Fuel System / Engine 2020–2023

1.5L EcoBoost three-cylinder fuel injectors can crack, leaking fuel and vapor into the cylinder head area near ignition sources, causing underhood fires. Covered by successive recalls (22S43, 22S73, and a 2025 expansion) affecting roughly 850,000 Escape and Bronco Sport vehicles; interim remedy is ECU software that detects a cracked injector.
